The advantage of DVD's over CDR's are as follows: Single Layer DVD's hold about 4.7Gig of Data and Duel Layer hold 8.5gig as opposed to 700MB on a CDR. Doesn't take a mathematician......

I can understand the math. What I meant was, are there any other benefits, outside of the obvious space savings.

it is my understanding that cd's and dvd's degrade at the same rate of time (~20-30 years?) with higher quality products / names lasting longer.
